Food Safety Training

All those working in the food industry are legally required to undertake food safety and HACCP training (E.C. Regulation 852/2004, Hygiene of Foodstuffs). Employees are a company’s greatest asset but can also be their greatest liability if adequate training is not provided.

Enlitened, a licensed trainer with the Environmental Health Association of Ireland and the National Hygiene Partnership, delivers the highest standard of training to your staff at each stage of their career development. Training is tailored to suit the individual need of the client. Training can be carried out on
site, on-line, or at a location convenient to you.

 

Food Safety Training Level 1

The aim of this 3-hour course is to provide food workers with adequate training in the basic principles of food safety.

On completion of Food Safety Training Level 1, participants will understand their responsibilities under Irish food safety legislation. This course gives an overview of best work practices and how they should be implemented.

It is recommended that participants progress to Level 2 training once they have become familiar with implementing the principles learned at Level 1.

Who should attend?

Newcomers to the food industry. Those who have light food handling responsibilities in the workplace.

Food Safety Training Level 2

The aim of this one-day course is to provide food workers with adequate training in the basic principles of food safety. It covers the necessary skills required to practice HACCP effectively in the workplace.

Who should attend?

This program is designed for all food handlers, chefs and supervisors involved in the preparation of
food for public consumption (i.e., cafés, shops, hotels and healthcare settings).

Food Safety Training Level 3

On completion of this course, you will be able to formulate and implement a comprehensive food safety management system in the workplace. You will have achieved the standard necessary to organize the necessary training for their staff.

Participants will be fluent in both the principles and practices of effective food hygiene management.

This course is run over 3 days. There is a 2-hour written examination on the final day. Participants are also required to submit a project one month after completion of the Management of Food Hygiene course. This qualification is the first step to becoming a Food Safety Trainer.

Who should attend?

This course is suitable for food business owners, managers, head chefs, and those with responsibility for the implementation and management of food safety and HACCP. It is a requirement that at
least one person in each food business has a Level 3 qualification. The National Hygiene Partnership however recommend that at least two managers or chefs in each business should have this
qualification.

Competence in Food Safety Training Level 1 and Level 2 should be demonstrated before progression to Level 3.
